Why My Jeans Are Crunchy

My dryer broke.

At first I though, "YES!" because I thought this might be my chance to convince my husband to buy one of those snazzy new fangled ones! A RED one with a new front loading washer to match...and maybe a maid to use them (I think BIG).

Well, my dreams of fancy new appliances were summarily SHUT DOWN by husband.

Damn him and his, "I am sure it can be fixed Jenni. Put your Sears charge back in your wallet and go lie down."

What am I supposed to do with the mounds of laundry that are accumulating while we wait for the repairman to come?

Surely it would be MUCH EASIER to just have a new washer and dryer delivered!

Why must I always be the only one who thinks rationally around here???

I would have totally gone for the new dryer. You forgot to cite that their energy efficient, so you'll save on your bills long term if you get the new set ;) Can you tell I've been angling for a new set for a couple years?

Some repairs are 50% of the cost of a new appliance.

Your posts really should come with a warning. I soiled myself thinking you got those new appliances. Oh they are so beautiful. Some day they will be mine.

Oh I've been lusting for one of those nice front load ones.

Yeah, once I thought I'd get a new dryer. Then it turns out it was only a broken belt. $7.

I shall forever be losing that left sock.

Love the red! My dryer finally died & I had to convince my spouse that it meant we also had to replace a still working washing machine.

Because you have to have a matched set or they don't work right

We got a set of those fancy schmancy beautiful front load washer and dryers, much like the picture, only not in red. The dryer broke after a year. One. Year. Just minutes after the warranty ended. Of course. But because it was so new, we had to get it fixed. Whereupon we spent more than the dryer cost. All of which is to say, the grass is not always greener.

I like that you think big. Where would this world be without big thinkers! I'm sure there wouldn't even be front loading washing machines without the likes of the big thinkers. My advice on your current situation is to do your washing and drying at the laundromat - you can do 6 loads or more at a time and have a couple of hours to sit and read if you leave the kidlets at home with dad.

Man my hubby thinks the same way! What makes it even worse is that he is usually right...UGH

Sorry Santa won't be bringing you one of those new lovely washer dryers - I wouldn't mind a new one either - I hear some dryers can finish your load in less than two hours - isn't that amazing? technology these days, ::sighs::

LOL! When our dryer broke I told my husband we should get it fixed and he thought it would be easier and more cost effective to just buy a new one. But I'm not really into the fancy washers and dryers. My SIL had one and it broke a lot and could only use high efficiency tide ...

Ooooohhhhh, love @ first sight. You never know, it might be too expensive to repair. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!

Man, why do they always have to be so sensible?....

On a sidenote, I bought the new-fangled washer and dryer about 5 years ago when they all first became the rage. My main electronic panel died just a week after the 5 year warranty expired, but thankfully was covered. Had it not been covered it would have been $300 to repair.

Here's what I decided, for $300 I'd go out and buy a cheap Roper washing machine. The bells and whistles aren't worth repairing. The repairs are too costly.

And sorry about the crunchy jeans.

Merry Christmas!

Good luck, I hope the repairman gets there soon. If they say something about the collection of lint, blame the kids. That is what I do.

Well, at least he told you to go rest, right? ;)
PS- My SIL has that EXACT washer/dryer set... I drool over it every time I visit her. I'd kill for my own... still using the laundry room in my apt building. Sigh,
