Aloha, Lucky 13!

This Monday, my husband and I will celebrate thirteen years of wedded bliss.

13 years of love and happiness.

13 years of friendship.

13 years of bickering about what to watch on tv and how to pronounce words like "guffaw"...

Aloha Friday Questions!

1. How many years have you been married?

2. Would you like to join my movement to start a new tradition of having a Still Married Shower after you've been married for 15 years? Because I need new stuff...

3. The traditional 13th wedding anniversary gift is LACE. What kind of crap is that? Shouldn't it be rubies or something?

Kailani would like to get me a new
blender from my
Still Married registry.

You're both lucky. 13 is a magically good number too!

13 years! COngrats! We celebrated 11 this year! Keep up all the things that keep you happy!

I've been married 4 and a half years, but we've been together for eight years.

You should definitely start some kind of anniversary shower!

I think those anniversary gifts are so weird. Some are like wood or tin foil. ???

Happy Anniversary! :)

We just celebrated our 12th anniversary. I'm going to pass on the "still married" shower because somehow the 50% divorce rate seems to not apply to my circle of friends (at least not yet). Every single one of them is still married, so that would be a lot of gifts to have to buy. Lace? That is pretty funny! What are you supposed to buy the guy?

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!

1. We've been married for 9 years, and will celebrate 10 in March.

2. Absolutely! I never had a shower!

3. I agree with another commenter... lace to wrap your diamonds in. :-)

Next week will be 24 years for me and I'm hoping for some new appliances. You thought laced was sad :)

We've been married for 26 years. I definitely need some new stuff so I'm all in for the Still Married Shower. I could use some new towels, a blender (for some reason they burn out fast when you only use them for Maragaritas)

Rubies, Diamonds, Pearls, Vacations to exotic locales, not lace.

Mighty M said...

1) Almost 6

2) YES! Fantastic idea!!

3) I need no doily's. What else can one do with lace?? I think you should create a new item!!

Dedene said...

1. It's either 12 ot 13, I'm not sure as we don't celebrate our anniversary.

2. Sure, because I didn't have a shower to begin with.

3. If it's handmade Belgium lace, and it happens to be in a beautiful cocktail dress, that'd be nice.

Happy anniversary!

I've been married 5 years and another shower in 10 years sounds great. So do rubies. :)

Happy Anniversary!!! We have been married 18.5 years. OMGosh, yes!!! A 15 year wedding shower would be the best and totally needed.

mommablogsalot said...

1 - We've been married just 3 years!
2 - I think that's an awesome idea - lol
3 - Could the rubies be attached to the lace somehow? Tell your hubby to get creative!

ComfyMom~Stacey said...

1. It will be 16 years next month. I had to do the math because I forgot.

2. Heck yeah! I could do with some new small appliances, the ones from the wedding gifts are starting to fail.

3. I like rubies

Happy Happy Wedding Bliss!

Married 14 1/2 years

A shower would be awesome. I need a baby one first- I'd love free diapers right about now! Ha, Ha.

Lace? My husband wouldn't mind something a little lacy. For me of course.

Happy anniversary!!! What's up with lace being the gift?? I think it should just be diamonds every year, with the diamond getting larger with every anniversary.

And yeah I second the shower idea...all the stuff we got from our wedding 7 years ago needs to be replaced!

24 years and my house and everything in it is breaking and falling apart so amen to your shower idea!

Shutter Girl said...

We have been married for 7 years and yes, I totally agree that people should give us Still Married Gifts. I need new things too.

Angela said...

We been married 6 yrs but together almost 9. I TOTALLY agree with the movement and will join whole heartedly! I need stuff too! Probably better for the guys that the 13th is lace but I think you misread....it says rubies wrapped in pretty package with lace!

CaraBee said...

1. 4 years
2. I'm totally down with the 15 year shower. Can we also have a 5 year one?
3. Lace? What crap.

Happy Anniversary!

We've been married for 7 years. Dude, I feel like I deserve an award or something.

Lace sucks. How about diamonds? They always work for me.

Congrats!

Yeah--i think wrapping some jewels in lace is a good idea!

I LOVE lace. But I can't imagine that would be easy to find in a man's anniversary gift!

happy anniversary!

Congratulations!! Lace? That's crap!
We'll have been married 20 years in March 2010. I like your idea, but I'm afraid it would offend friends who have divorced. Too bad, I could use some new stuff, too!

Totally up for a second wedding shower! You rock...great idea.
Lace is crap unless you still like Jessica MacClintock dresses from the 80's.

7 years some time next week. I am probably the only woman on earth who has to pull the certificate out every year to remember the actual day. (We met 20 years ago so it is hard to remember.)
I am in full support. Any movement to promote presents has my backing.
Lace? That is the traditional in the US but in the UK the traditional 13th is a barometer. Do you need one of those? The modern US is textiles or furs. Personal I would go with the modern one because it would mean a shopping spree.
7th year is wool which I translate as a new cashmere sweater.

Happy Anniversary!
And um, how else do you pronounce guffaw?
PS- Lace can be sorta hot if it's also a little slutty, Dontcha think? But not TOO slutty because then it's really itchy. And that's just annoying!
