So.
After I obsessively devoured all of the books in the Twilight Saga, I was on the hunt for something else vampire-y to enjoy.
A friend of mine recommended another young adult book series, which I promptly put on my Amazon.com wish list, and which my husband bought for me for Christmas.
Well.
I just finished the third book in the series and I will definitely be reading book four when it comes out in October!
Blue Bloods

I would recommend this series of books to anyone who enjoyed the Twilight series! They are a lot shorter and significantly less angsty...but definitely GOOD vampire-istic summer reading!
Think Twilight meets Beverly Hills 90210!
Sure, there is no EDWARD :::swoon::: but they do have a fun cast of characters and a very interesting back-story!
And besides, reading them will help to fill the time between now and the theatrical release of New Moon...which is still 123 days away but who's counting? (ME!)

Good to know! I was definitely in mourning after I finished with the Twilight books. I need another summer read. Thanks!

Oh how funny! I have had Blue Bloods on my book shelf for MONTHS! But my friend who I share books with hated it, so I wasn't sure about it. Now I might have to give it a try after the other 15 books on my shelf that are asking to be read! LOL!
Check out my "Must read" list I posted on my blog last week... if you loved Twiglight [as I did] - then you'll want to check out a lot of these books I have listed...

xo.
Okay, still haven't read Twilight over here. I suppose I should get on that....
That was a great series - I read it right after Twilight too!
I described it as Twilightmeets Gossip Girl.
By the way, I have read 3 or 4 other Vampire/romance series since then. Once you are done with Blue Bloods try the JR Ward series and the Lara Adrian series.
lol atleast its not just me who's NOT counting down the days :)
After twilight I read the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. But it turned out to be more like twilight meets soft core porn with lots of blood and ickiness and not so much anything like twilight. lol. and the series based on the books (hbo trueblood) is even worse. although there is a hot blonde vampire.....
You should really check out the House of Night series by P.C and Kristin Cast. The first one is called Chosen. It is a really good series. Also, Richelle Mead does a series called Vampire Academy. I love them!!! I would actually choose that series over the House of Night series but both are good.
I'm loving this series, too!
Good to know.. I'm a twilight saga fan myself.. so this should be fun!
Oh and thanks for stopping by the other day!
Happy Monday!!!
I jumped on the Twilight train a little late. I saved the last 2 for beach reading and can't wait to dive in. I'm sure I'll be jonesing for some more vampires after I'm done. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm still a Twilight skeptic. (gasp) Haven't seen it, haven't read it... I'm just not sure it is something I'd like.
*braces for the stones*
I'll pass this series info over to my sister though, she love loves Twilight and I am sure would love this series as well..
Thanks I am always looking for another great book or book series! Loved Twilight and counting down with ya!
Oh goody, goody!
I'm still in my vampire reading mode and am always looking for good reads.
AND...it's not only a vampire series, but it's a good read, The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Three books: City of Bones, City of Ash, City of Glass. I just finished them and enjoyed them a lot.
And now you have given me something to look up and read! Thanks!
Will have to read it :) I love Twilight series!
You are the bomb! Between you & the other recommendations in your comments I'm sure I'll have something to keep me occupied until New Moon. And no, I'm certainly not counting until New Moon comes out. Not me w/ my widget on my blog! lol
Will someone explain to me the deal with vampires? Why are you women so crazy about them? I am confused.
Oh, I'm so counting too!!!
And thanks. I was wondering how I would spend the rest of my summer now that I've read the twilight series and midnight sun... twice. ;)
Is the writing any better?
I am not a Twilight fan of either book or movie. But I haven't really tried either. I started Twilight 3 times and got no further than 10 pages at a time before I gave up and moved on.
It was the writing that kept yanking me away from the story or the characters.
I think I'll stick to my Harry Potter.
We love the Twlight series and Harry Potter so I may have to give these a try too.
I heard the books that the show Dexter is based off of are also just fabulous and dark.
Interesting.
I think I got my fill of vampires from the Twilight series.
Thanks for the review. I have seen this series at the book store and wondered if it was worth getting.
Maybe I'll grab them for my vacation "reads."
i am definitely looking for something to fill my vampire shaped hole. i will have to give these a try.
i am so excited for NM. as my lovely coworkers can tell you, i excitedly announce each day how many days left. yeah, they hate me and all that is twilight lol
I love all things vampirey. I'll put these on my to-do list!
I'll have to check it out, thanks for the tip!
BTW, I'm giving away James Taylor concert tickets on my blog next Monday...
I still haven't jumped on the Twilight bandwagon yet...I know, crazy, right? But maybe you'll just turn me... ;)
I will keep that in mind. I'm currently reading war and peace. I think it will keep me busy for a couple of months.
check out true blood, I am watching it on hbo but I hear there are books.
Interesting, thanks for the recommendation!!
And if you want a totally sarcastic, hilarious, totally modern vampire story, check out "You Suck" by Christopher Moore. Totally totally fun! (Not for prudes.)
